Ask after the customer has experienced the service, purchase, or engagement. Confirm that the work is complete and that your team knows who owns the follow-up. A restaurant visit, HVAC installation, and consulting project will have different timing.
2. Keep the request neutral
Ask for honest feedback about the experience. Do not prescribe a star rating or make a reward depend on a positive review. Check the destination platform’s current requirements before launching a campaign.
Example wording: “Thank you for choosing our business. If you would like to share your experience, you can leave an honest review here: [your review link]. We appreciate your feedback.”
3. Remove unnecessary steps
Use the correct business review link and test it on a phone. A suitable NFC card or QR code can make an in-person request easier. Keep the request short and make sure the destination identifies the right location.
4. Decide who handles replies
Assign responsibility for monitoring new feedback. Thank customers without copying the same response everywhere. Review complaints carefully, avoid revealing private information, and provide an appropriate private contact route.
5. Measure the process
Track whether requests are sent consistently, whether recent feedback appears, and whether responses are handled. Review totals and ratings are useful signals; they do not by themselves establish revenue impact.
Compare similar businesses in the same market, then improve one part of your workflow at a time. A Local Trust Audit can help identify the starting gap.
Adapt the checklist to your industry
Confidential engagements, health-related services, and other sensitive settings need suitable approval and privacy practices. Explore industry-specific considerations or see managed review support.
